I have an issue. You know, the simulation community is one of the weirdest places that I’ve walked into as of late. There are plenty of wondrous people here, but there are a lot of unmotivated individuals. I have brought many new people into a party, asked them about their character, and got nothing in response. If you want to make a CAW, fine, but I would believe that simulation is more focused on characters, not CAWs. You can add all the insanely creative paint tools that you want, but there is no character, it makes them boring. If you’re making them for the cause of making them, fine. Carry on with that. If you’re making a CAW that you want to have broadcasted to our community, you’ll need to do more than just make some snazzy PTs and move on with life. You’re just painting a vase. A vase is soulless and it can be broken within a minute of poor handling. People will point out your PTs the first time they see you, but then afterwards, they lose interest. I am not saying that you should completely write out their biographies (like MONROE and I have done), but geez, give them some life. CAW federations are supposed to mimic what we see on television or the internet. We bring our own original ideas to the medium and make it something of our own. THQ (and soon, 2K) have been completely blown after by what some of us have done inside of their somewhat limited Create-A-Wrestler system. We have made shows that are better to watch than the actual television at times. This is not because of the flashy attires, it’s about the fact that we as, artists or whatever you wish to call yourself, have done with the games. Original storylines have been created that are better than most writing today. What am I going on about? Make a character, not a CAW. Make them original, not what the consensus is (I’m looking at all of you kids who want to make puro wrestlers and don’t know how to play the style). Give them some personality or a great gimmick. Do something other than what you see others doing, or what you see on TV (or YouTube). Have fun. Especially for you young folk who think that you’re the next big thing or any of you leaders of these developing federations. If you don’t, people are not going to be bothered with watching your show. I think you need a tissue for your issues. I have plenty! I would like to add that writing a biography for your character would help in the creation process in developing that character. It allows you to have a better understanding of who you're playing as and should help tremendously in character portrayal in a match.
